Dr. Maurice Bernaiche brings his expertise in the non-surgical care of musculoskeletal conditions. Dr. Bernaiche graduated from Maine Maritime Academy with a BS degree in Marine Engineering and a minor in Nuclear Power Systems Management. He sailed ships around the work for ten years before turning his ambitions toward medicine. He then attended the University Of New England College Of Osteopathic Medicine, graduating in 2000. He obtained his training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (Physiatry) in Detroit and East Lansing, Michigan, graduating in 2004. Dr. Henry Drinker Specialty: Adult hip and knee reconstruction, Shoulder disorders, Arthroscopic Surgery, Minimally invasive knee and hip replacement & general orthopedics. Dr. Drinker joined Hampshire Orthopedics in 1981 and is currently the senior partner of the group.

He is Medical Director of the Total Joint Center at Cooley Dickinson Hospital. His practice covers the spectrum of general orthopedics, excluding spinal disorders. His offices include the Northampton and Westfield sites and he operates only at the Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton, MA. Dr. Drinker graduated from Williams College in Williamstown, Ma. in 1968 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Dr. Jonathan Fallon Specialty: Operative Sports Medicine and Shoulder Surgery. Dr. Fallon is an orthopedic surgeon with Hampshire Orthopedics and Sports Medicine who specializes in shoulder surgery and advanced arthroscopic techniques including rotator cuff and labral repairs, anatomic ACL reconstruction, and total shoulder replacements. He is one of a few people in western Massachusetts that performs arthroscopic hip surgery, an emerging field in orthopedics. Dr. Fallon also takes care of orthopedic trauma for patient of all ages, including children. Currently, he is the team surgeon for Westfield state University and an assistant team surgeon for the University of Massachusetts. Dr. Sherri Kuchinskas joined Hampshire Orthopedics in 2009 and specializes in the non-surgical management of musculoskeletal and sports injuries. She is an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of muscle, soft tissue and peripheral nerve injuries as well as back, neck and joint conditions. Her focus is on optimizing non-operative, rehabilitative and preventative treatment.

Dr. Kuchinskas obtained her undergraduate degree in Exercise Science from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and earned her medical degree at St. Louis University. She completed a residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Rush University Medical in Chicago and completed a one year sports medicine fellowship at the University of Illinois. While there, she was a team physician for all collegiate sports and served on the medical staff for the WNBA Chicago Sky team. (Read More)


Dr. Jonathan Kurtis has practiced orthopedics in Northampton for 31 years. His clinical interests include hand surgery, sports medicine, and general orthopedics. He has long been associated with the University of Massachusetts Athletic Department and travels with the football team. He can be found pacing the sideline during the games. Dr. Kurtis graduated Brandeis University in 1968 and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1972.

He interned at San Francisco General Hospital and then completed his orthopedic residency at Duke University Medical Center. He is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons and a member of several professional societies. He has been married for 35 years and has two children, much smarter than he is.


Dr. Daniel McBride
is an orthopedic surgeon in practice with Hampshire Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Inc.in Northampton, Massachusetts. His primary interest and sub-specialization is in Orthopedic Sports Medicine. Dr. McBride also has extensive experience in primary total joint replacement. In addition, Dr. McBride is involved with routine fracture care. His practice does involve a fairly broad spectrum of orthopedic care but he does not perform hand surgery or spinal care.

Dr. McBride graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1984. He then spent one year of graduate studies at The Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Deciding this was not for him, he went on to medical school, graduating from SUNY Health Sciences Center, Syracuse, in 1989. (Read More)


Dr. Catherine Spath
is a board certified orthopedic surgeon who joined Hampshire Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, Inc. in 2009. She is a board certified orthopedic surgeon and a fellowship trained hand surgeon. She specialized in treatment of the hand and upper extremity but also covers general orthopedics. Dr. Spath completed her orthopedic training at George Washington University and she also completed a hand and microvascular fellowship at SUNY Health Sciences Center at Syracuse.

She is a graduate of Brown University, where she competed on the varsity crew team. She is an avid runner and cyclist. She is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, the Ruth Jackson Society and the American Medical Association. Dr. Spath sees patients in the Hatfield main office and also at the Belchertown satellite office.

Dr. William Lohrer
is an orthopedic surgeon in practice with Hampshire Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, Inc. Dr. Lohrer earned his medical degree at the University of Rochester School of Medicine in New York and completed his internship at the University of Massachusetts medical Center in Worcester. He completed two residencies, one at the UMass Medical Center in Worcester and one at the University of Rochester Medical Center. He also completed a fellowship in Sports Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio.

Dr. Lohrer is on staff at the Cooley Dickinson Hospital and also at the Wing Memorial Hospital. He sees patients at the Hampshire Orthopedics satellite office in Belchertown.
