Physicians: Dr. McBride

Dr. Daniel McBride. Is an orthopedic surgeon in practice with Hampshire Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Inc.in Northampton, Massachusetts. His primary interest and sub-specialization is in Orthopedic Sports Medicine. Dr. McBride also has extensive experience in primary total joint replacement. In addition, Dr. McBride is involved with routine fracture care. His practice does involve a fairly broad spectrum of orthopedic care but he does not perform hand surgery or spinal care.

Dr. McBride graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1984. He then spent one year of graduate studies at The Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Deciding this was not for him, he went on to medical school, graduating from SUNY Health Sciences Center, Syracuse, in 1989. He completed his internship and orthopedic residency also at SUNY Syracuse in 1994. He next completed an orthopedic sports medicine fellowship at American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, Alabama under the Mentorship of Doctors James R Andrews and William G Clancy. Following that, he completed an upper extremity sports medicine fellowship at Sportsmed SA. in Adelaide, South Australia under the Mentorship of Doctors Michael Hayes and Andrew Saies. Having thus completed training, Dr. McBride joined Hampshire Orthopedics in March 1996 where he has been in practice ever since.

Since joining Hampshire Orthopedics, Dr. McBride has been significantly involved with orthopedic sports medicine care with our community as well as at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. In addition to providing routine orthopedic consultation at our main office, now in West Hatfield, he also provides care once weekly at the University Health Services, and orthopedic athletic injury care at UMass training room facilities. In addition Dr. McBride, along with Dr. Kurtis, provides sideline football coverage for UMass.

Dr. McBride has been board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery since 1998. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery. He is also a fellow of the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine. He is a member of the New England Orthopedic Society. He has licensure in the states of Massachusetts, Alabama, and New York.

Dr. McBride is married and has one child. He is originally from upstate New York, and has lived in Northampton since joining Hampshire Orthopedics in 1996. Non-professional interests include mountain biking and road cycling, alpine skiing, traveling, and history.
